Key Skills
Communication
-
My communication skills improved as I was required to work in a group as a part of a project for my course. I had to create a specific game for one of our assignments. Communication was key as it was necessary to know which stage, we were all at. I ensure I was communicating information and updates at all times. To ensure this, we created a WhatsApp group that allowed us to communicate on each other’s progress, we also had meetings in the campus library, and virtual meetings using Discord. This enabled me to become more confident in communicating information and update as and when required through online platforms and verbally too.
-
In addition to this, as part of our course, I attended the Game Anglia Festival where I managed to network and communicate with various employers around indie game production to understand the technicalities of how it is created. This gave me the opportunity to build my network and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
Teamwork
-
Throughout my roles and experiences, I gained the ability to work efficiently within a team. As part of a module at university, I was placed in a team, where I had to create a horror game within 3 weeks. This was a challenging task as we fell short in numbers, which meant I was also responsible for tasks which my team member left out. Those tasks being assets design, animation. The animation was split in between the remaining two members, and I was left with the asset design which was my first time creating my very own game assets. Thus, by fairly splitting the outstanding tasks we managed to complete all our tasks efficiently and worked well together to achieve great results and feedback from the tutor and peers.
Problem Solving
-
In our team project we encountered a problem with the design aspect of the game which didn’t work with the idea we initially had in mind, so I suggested that we change the fully immersed horror aspect into a more of a horror arcade style, which helped resolve the problem by allowing us to be more free with the asset design and level design, as the original design wad a high time demand which we could not have afford while also having a man down. This then led to me becoming in charge of asset creation, which gave me the confidence to design and solve issues as and when they occurred.
Time Management
-
Throughout my studies I have successfully organised my time to complete all assignments and research according to deadlines by prioritising my workload according to urgency. I am also able to coordinate this with my part time role at the casino.
.
Technical Skills
-
Experienced in using Maya 2023, I understand how the shaders/lighting effects work and know how to use them in my projects. As part of one of the projects I did for my course, I was tasked with creating a short movie made from scratch. I understand the tools such as modelling, curves, sculpturing and rendering offered by the software to create good artefacts for my projects.
-
Experience in creating levels and environment in Unity 3D and 2D, I have used it for personal projects and university projects which I was tasked on creating a small interactive game with a playable environment level.
-
Understanding of the C# programming language and experience in its use in Unity. I Used Unity to create small interactable game artefacts in both 2D and 3D which were used for my university projects. Also, I have utilised some of the many tools and feature that the game engine can offer, such as the particle system and Cinemachine.
-
I am knowledgeable in C++ and HTML programming language as I have done work in Dreamweaver when completing assignments for college.
